“Make every day count”. This is the kind of indistinct advice that sounds uplifting and positive but isn’t really that practical on a day to day basis. It’s too amorphous to be applicable as a real-life improvement strategy.
Why should we make every day count?
Ever noticed how exciting a countdown is whether it’s a rocket launch or a New year’s eve. Every day we have the opportunity to be happy. Make a difference and live life to the fullest. It’s really up to us to choose those things that make each day count. And there is nothing wrong to make each and every day productive, remembering that we are just tenants and we have limited time to walk this earth.
“ The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it. ”
On an ideal ‘days that counts’ us;
- Any birthdays/anniversaries or D-days.
- Spending time doing things which we really love to do.
- If it’s Friday evening then the next consecutive days counts a lot.
Many more, but this isn’t what makes a day countable. These are just notifications which help us stay awaited for some special days to get counted.
The real pleasure is to make a mark that we are alive to create each day a new chance.
How to make every day count?
There are many different ways to do this, but below I’ve listed some best ways to make each day productive and countable. So, let’s see
#1 Make your morning count first.
Whether your morning is at 6 am or 11 pm, make it count. Make the start of your day special in some way that makes you feel glad to be alive. Start with gratitude, love, meditation or just stillness. Do something that makes you feel happier and more at peace. Start your day off right and it will set the tone for the rest of the day.
#2 Learn Something New and live with purpose
Is there a subject you’ve always been curious about feeling like you don’t have time to learn? But, with the wealth of information available to us on the web, we can discover and learn something new every day! Just we have to give some time for us.
The purpose is what keeps us moving forward in life engaging our very souls with passion. Passion is so important to living a fulfilling life. So, make the purpose one that forever changes the lives around you.
#3 Share a little kindness
Have you noticed how good it feels to offer someone a helping hand, sharing a smile with a complete stranger, or feeling like you said just the right words to make a friend feel better? These simple acts will give us the pleasure of sharing little kindness and remembers us as a human in this society.
#4 Be Grateful
Being thankful for what we have, who we are, and all we do is the simple act of acknowledging all the good that’s in our life. With our busy lives, we often forget to recognize our blessings. An attitude of gratitude shifts our focus away from our negative emotions, fears, and daily irritations to think and feel more positively.
#5 Laugh and Play
We all know how much joy laughter can bring, but it’s also a gift to everyone around us. As children, we laughed with ease. As adults, we sometimes need reminders to let go and allow ourselves to be silly and see the humor in everyday situations. But, yeah its also good for health.
As adults, we often forget the importance of making time to play. Being human, it’s one of the natural forms of expression. Making time to play is a great way to connect with the child within us and find joy in simple pleasures.
# 6 Be healthy and be happy!
If we find ourselves yawning all the time and tired before we even started doing anything worthwhile, then we are not going to make every day count. So it’s really important to be healthy by adopting a good lifestyle, healthy diet and some daily activities which will kick-start our day by keeping fresh inside out.
Another way we can think about how to make each day count is to ask ourselves the questions which may sound little offending but yeah, “If I only had a month left to live, what would I do?” and “Am I spending time doing what truly matters to the most?” We each have different things that are important to us, and engaging in those things we value the most will bring us more joy and happiness. When we choose to live a life we love, we will find ourselves in love with the life we’re living. 🙂
