6 TRAITS OF SUCCESSFUL WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

If you’re a woman having a lot of ideas to start your own business and desiring to take a plunge of actions, you probably want to know what sets successful female entrepreneurs apart. What traits or personal habits do they share? What exactly are you getting yourself into?  On this blog post, you will get to know, such qualities of successful women entrepreneurs and hopefully get some inspiration to be one along the way if you are alike.

Years ago, women were anticipated to stay at home and raise a family. It was rare that a woman was successful in business and at home. Women didn’t hold high-flying jobs that were considered only for men. But fast-forward to today and woman have dominated the business sector and it is only the beginning.  More and more women are giving up their jobs and entering into a world of entrepreneurship. It’s not surprising that Women in Leadership roles are successful due to the personality traits each have. There is no ‘entrepreneurial gene’ but there are few key qualities that stand out.

1)Women have high Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

For most people, emotional intelligence (EQ) is more important than one’s intelligence (IQ) in attaining success in their lives and careers. As individuals, your success and the success of the profession today depend on your ability to read other people’s signals and react appropriately to them. Emotional intelligence assessments have found women and men to be equally as emotionally intelligent. However, men and women are strong in different competencies. Women score higher than men in areas of empathy and social responsibility- which are highly valued for today ’s workplaces and organizations as they are increasingly diverse with gender and cultural differences. There are increased demands for social responsibility and accountability where women can also lead better.

2) Humility and a willingness to learn

true Humility in women

You cannot rest on your laurels when you run your own business. The creative industries are always changing, so you will constantly need to keep up and innovate. Successful female entrepreneurs know this and will work hard to learn and improve all the time. They’ll read books, go to workshops and be willing to learn from others. Successful businesswomen will always be humble. They’ll never be afraid to admit they don’t know everything and will always strive to boost their skills.

3) Being Balanced

Multitask Woman.

Most businesswomen are seeking a balanced life and they are known for their great work ethics. Whether that is a project, a meeting or just making sure their clients get the service they expect. Women also have the great ability to multi-task. Some have families, school drop-offs and home-making, however, no one can balance life as a working woman. They also have the unique ability to keep their personal life at the door, work hard and will do what it takes to succeed.

4) Behavior – Take Reliable Action

One way that many women curb their fear is by taking action. Successful female entrepreneurs are notably very busy and their actions are not without purpose. They are consistently taking steps to move forward in their businesses and to create the companies they desire. The action also provides clarity in times of uncertainty. Many people spin when they are having trouble getting clear on their direction. And, in doing so, they stand still waiting for clarity to present itself. However savvy entrepreneurs take some sort of action and will pivot and re-calibrate direction if necessary. They don’t wait for everything to be aligned to make things happen.

5) Sense of purpose

sense of purpose

There is no point in starting a business unless you possess a strong sense of purpose. You have to believe that you are destined for great things. Successful women work with a great purpose to earn their in society rather running towards power or money. To be a successful female entrepreneur you have to believe in yourself and believe that what you are doing is making a difference. That strong sense of purpose will be reflected in your business, which will only stand the rest of time.

6) Follow their guts

Fear stops many people from ever seeing their dreams turn into reality. Fear creeps in and can become invasive and destructive. Women fear failure. They fear they’re not good enough.

They fear being judged and, on a subconscious level, many women fear success. However, successful women entrepreneurs have learned to quiet these fears in order to chase after their goals. They accept that there will be some level of fear but they use it to fuel them into action.  These women discern that fear can be a sign that they’re pushing themselves outside of their comfort zones and into zones where greatness resides and success is the prize for entry.

“Define success on your own terms, achieve it by your own rules, and build a life you’re proud to live.”
-Anne Sweeney, Co-Chair of Disney Media Networks

Successful women entrepreneurs may appear to have something that most of don’t possess.  But that is grossly untrue.  The qualities that make them successful are most likely aspects of yourself that you can access, nurture and improve upon. They have learned to embrace failure, they consistently take action to move forward towards their dreams. These are six simple qualities that make difference and are taken together to propel you towards finding the success which you deserve. Never forget that even the most difficult obstacles can be overcome, and entrepreneurial success is possible in any environment. Achieving small daily goals will eventually lead to big results. Women around the world are succeeding every day, and there are new and expanding opportunities to do business. And the best thing of being an entrepreneur teaches you that your life really is in your hands. Whether you’re a success or a failure its completely up to you and the choices you make for your OWN company. So Keep Hustling.

  8. Hello! Thanks a ton for the insightful post. May I ask where you get your photos from? They are well done.

In addition, I wanted to note another challenge that women face: when trying to start a business, women are more likely than men to face work-family conflict because of expectations to maintain family roles (being a mother and wife). Thankfully our society is improving in this regard, but it is still prevalent and problematic. Thus, having a strong family support system is very important to succeed as an entrepreneur.
